Sendai Tanabata Festival - Tanzaku Votive Notes

Sendai Tanabata is a traditional event passed down by the city’s residents from the time of the feudal lord Date Masamune (1567-1636). Today, Sendai Tanabata has the status of the most recognized Tanabata festival throughout Japan, showcasing gorgeous decorations and the elegance of ancient Japan’s Star Festival.

This website is seeking contributions of wishes and support messages, aiming to unite people from throughout Japan in their hopes for recovery and other wishes within the context of the Sendai Tanabata Festival.

*Wishes received by July 29 (Fri.) will be made into tanzaku votive notes and displayed at the Citizens’ Plaza in Kotodai Park during the Sendai Tanabata Festival (August 6-8).

*Those who submit wishes/messages may request to receive an image that can be used as a desktop image and/or screensaver.

A photo of the traditional Japanese Tanabata paper strip with your wish will be sent to participants who submit a reply address.
